Consevative, liberal or independent?

I used to consider myself conservative but the more I learn the more I see that to label yourself conservative and to follow those that do you automaticaly exclude yourself from some good liberal policy. The same goes for being a liberal. Most people I know actually float in between the 2 extremes yet they insist on being labeled the one or the other. Funny thing is most have their bents because of 1 or 2 issues that are important to them and these issues are more emotional than anything else. Hence, I am an independent and prefer to use facts and not emotion to decide which issues are important to me and more importantly to my country. I admit that I probably lean a bit toward the conservative side but that doesnt mean that liberals cant have good ideas either. I am tired of the us vs them fight that gets us no where and continually brings out the worst and most radical on both sides. There is no shortage of idiots in this world. Hopefully I can choose wisely enough not to be one of them.
